Divisions
Divisional Breakdown
Children: Children 12 and under. Only receiving help with baking, making frosting, torting and stacking.
Beginner: Minimal courses taken. Non-professional. Under 2 years of "hobby" practice.
Amateur: Minimal courses taken. Non-professional. 2-4 years of “hobby” practice.
Professional: Currently working as a cake decorator, has taken more than 4 cake decorating courses or has 4+ years of hobby practice.
Judging
Judges and/or Cakes for Kids Committee shall have the right to re-categorize any entry if necessary. Placement and disqualification of entries will be final. No cake displaying poor taste will be allowed. Copyrighted images are prohibited. One entry per contestant. All entries must be the sole work of the contestant. Entries will be judged on the following:
Total 100 points.
Show Theme
This year's theme is Bedtime Stories. These can include classic children's books from Dr. Seuss to Walt Disney or bedtime stories you have come up with for your children/or that were told to you. The cake must simply tell a story. If you would tell that story to a child getting ready for bed then it will fit into this year's theme. If you have any questions on the theme, please contact us using the above Contact tab.
In the event of a tie, the judges will decide based on how well the cake tells the story.
Awards - (prizes TBA)
Decisions of the judges are final. The contestant, at the closing of the competition should remove all materials. Cakes are not to be consumed at the venue location. No entrant will be allowed to remove cake from display area until the Prizes have been awarded. You may choose to donate your cake to the Ronald McDonald House even if you do not win- please let us know in advance if you would like to do this)

- Beginner -Tiered and Sculpted (judged together)
- Amateur - Tiered or Sculpted (separate categories)
- Professional - Tiered or Sculpted (separate categories)

- Overall Appearance- 40 points,
- Originality - 10 points,
- Use of theme- 20
- Difficulty of techniques- 10 points,
- Overall neatness of cake- 10 points.
- Range of techniques used -10 points
